Today we are able to learn about things from all over the world while sitting in the comfort of our own home. With no extensive waiting we have access to what is happening all around us. A mom in Kansas can find out the weather forecast in Florida to plan for her upcoming vacation and she doesnt have to wait for the weather on the news. A stockbroker in Taiwan can find out how their stocks in New York are doing without having to wait for the buisness section in the paper the next day. With your curiosity as your guide you can scour the world over to learn anything you want and now that information can be brought to you. Welcome to the next step in information technology, Rss feeds. RSS is generally agreed to be an abbreviation for Really Simple Syndication. An RSS Feed brings the information you want to you as it is published. Surfing the web you find websites like blogs or news organizations that you are interested in. That site has the potential to update you on what they are writing as soon as they post it. The nice benefit is that you do not have to constantly check the websites to stay up to date, and unlike a newspaper you get to choose who publishes your news. Many sites have fine tuned their RSS Feeds to the point where you can custimize what type of information they send. Like to keep up with the headlines from NPR? They have RSS Feeds. Need to keep up with a band you like? Have their posts sent to you. If they post new information and RSS Feed can keep you posted. So where do you go to find your RSS Feed subscription? You can have a home site, like My Yahoo! or Google, that you can have the RSS feeds publish on or some internet browsers, like internet explorer, have an RSS feed option under your bookmark tab that allow you to access the feeds individually. If you really like to stay connected on the run you can also have the RSS feeds published on your cell phone as a text message. Please keep in mind that having the information sent to your phone will count as a text message and charges from you phone service provider will still apply. In a busy world where time is money and knowledge is power you can stay ahead with RSS Feeds and let the world come to you.
