Pods Storage as a Grown Up

I cannot count the number of times I have helped various friends move, but I can tell you that I wish pods storage was around for every single move. Most of us had to recruit friends to help, because we were starving students at the time. The moves usually involved beer, pizza and a U Haul truck. We usually had to help said friend pack and convince them to throw various things away that just would not fit in the truck. We had the more cerebral task of actually driving the truck in public, after the manual labor of loading everything in a moving truck. It continues to amaze me that a person who has a normal non commercial drivers license is allowed to rent one of these big trucks and drive it through public streets. It is when you turn the first corner in that truck and hear everything crashing down in the back, that you realize you should have left it to the professionals. I guess we should not have put the framed pictures between the bike and the air hockey table. At that precise moment, you all wish there was such a thing as pods storage and you could have left the driving to someone else.
I am a grown up now and have paid someone else to move me every time I have moved the last ten years. It is expensive, though, and you have to have your act together. You can save some money by having everything packed when the movers get there, or pay more and have them do everything. It is a whirlwind of chaos, no matter what you choose. If you decide to pack everything yourself, the movers will arrive and start packing anything they see. After my first professional move, I found a very lightweight, but HUGE box, filled with various shoes that had all been individually wrapped with an enormous amount of paper. Most movers get paid for every bit of packing material they use, as well as the time it takes to do everything. Again, I wish I would have known about pods storage as an option.
I have seen more and more of these pods storage things on the streets of the city.I guessed it was mainly students who did not want to pimp out their friends services to help them drive a truck around. When some friends of ours decided to move to California, we learned all about pods storage. In exchange for dinner and wine, we graced them with our packing skills for an entire afternoon. We took most of the boxes down the stairwell to the pods storage box parked out on the street. Our friends were able to take things downstairs and into the unit at their leisure, while the thing was parked there for a week. It was a very secure cube, with a heavy frame and a huge lock. No one could get into the thing unless he had a forklift and just wanted to take the whole thing. Whatever was too heavy or cumbersome to take care of ourselves, was moved into the pods storage cube by some people they hired. The pods storage box was picked up by the moving company that owned it, and off their belongings went to California. Our friends did not have to contend with a chaotic day of movers at their apartment, and they did not have to learn how to drive a huge truck. Who knew? Poor college students are not the only ones who can use pods storage. And your friends do not have to hide when you tell them you are moving. References Self-storage . Storage . Mobile storage .
