No matter what time of year, it seems, there are moving trucks parked on the streets of Rochester, moving people in and out and back in again. High turnover? Maybe, but I like to think of it as a case of many opportunities.
I have done my share of moving between Rochester apartments, and I must say, it is a difficult choice every time my lease is up, if only because there are so many choices. This past move, I was caught between the Park Ave and South Wedge neighborhoods, even though there was a really great studio downtown...it was a tough call. There were also some one bedrooms available in my price range. And, of course, I could have looked harder for a roommate if I wanted that really huge two bedroom with the backyard.
Rochester apartments really do have a lot to offer. There is a lot of old money in this city, meaning that many of the apartments available for rent are part of enormous, beautiful mansions. In many of them, the ceilings are high, fireplaces crackle, floors are a shiny hardwood, and bay windows let in sunlight. And the best part is, a lot of them are really quite affordable. It is perfectly possible to set a rather conservative budget for your rent and to find something that fits your needs for that price: because, as I said, there are just so many Rochester apartments available, and the cost of living here is generally quite doable.
Everyone has their own way of finding their ideal Rochester apartment. Sometimes it is best to have nothing in mind at all, and simply see your options firsthand. Some people need to have a clear idea of precisely what they want in a new, if temporary home. Keep an open mind as you find your next Rochester apartment. Maybe you will find something you never thought you wanted.
