Kids can watch shows that get them to count and learn about addition or subtraction. The beautiful thing is that kids won't even know that they are being taught things. Kids who resist learning can learn with out even knowing it if they watch certain kids shows. Television is a powerful tool that can be successfully used to educate children.
On the other hand, caution should be used. Television can also be a tool that can teach children things their parents don't want them to know about yet as well. The good news is that most of the kids shows that are on TV are usually intelligently designed to help children learn where they would otherwise put up a resistance. Television has evolved and is not just for entertainment anymore and smart parents and educators will take advantage of this fact.
